    Fantastic saw

Combined with the Toolshed rails this saw is an essential part of my workshop. I make custom furniture - including benchtops and being able to rip down over 2 metre long boards makes it a breeze.

    Rate the gear

Good saw, can be used in many situations including ripping/cutting linea/hardies. Its perfect for that because once you hook it up to a vac this thing is almost dustless operation. Goes just as well as the makita plunge/rail

The Tool Shed Plunge Rail Saw review

Bought on special for $299. Needed it to accurately rip Rimu for door frames, where I just couldn't get the precision I needed from the table saw on account of how long the wood was. Looks like it will do just what I want for this.

An excellent purchase after initially getting and returning an Ozito version from Bunnings (a piece of junk, so don't waste your time or money).

Also bought 2 Makita 1400 rails and Makita connectors and clamps to go with it, but had to go to Mitre10 for these as my Tool Shed was out of stock of these and their Tool Shed versions. They assured me all these rail parts were interchangeable, and this saw certainly does all it should on the Makita tracks. FYI I got all these Makita parts at -15% of competitors lower rates! So far the track grips so well I haven't even had to use the clamps.

Comes with 48 tooth blade installed, so no need to buy another blade like some other options (another saving - thanks Tool Shed!).

Base nice and flat (checked before I left the shop). Aluminium(?) base also has slots, gaps and clamps front and rear for aux fence; Makita appear to have something that might work with this saw. Didn't ask The Tool Shed folk about that or of they have a similar device. Base also has anti-kickback (which you need to activate to drop onto rails), which can be easily twisted to allow you to pull the saw back on the rails. Also has anti-tip over for when bevelling. Two bevel angle clamps, but just one gauge at the front.

Has flip up compensator for depth of cut to align with measurements for when cutting without rails.

Dust port is 34mm internal/38mm external, with elbow attachment giving a 35mm internal/39 external option.

Instruction book missing one parts numbered image, so a bit guess work to work out what's what, but not too hard when working through the parts list that is there.

Manual switch for blade change lock, measured cuts and 2.5mm scribing.

Thoroughly recommend this as totally adequate option over Makita, Dewalt or Bosch options for 1/3 the price (on special).
